DocuWorks enables you to integrate documents from a variety of
sources into a single work place. The DocuWorks document can be created from
documents of other applications and data from scanner or fax. The created documents
can all be stored and managed in DocuWorks format. Once in DocuWorks, the electronic
documents can be managed like paper on the display.
For new features added in DocuWorks 5.0, refer to the topic "New Features
of DocuWorks 5.0" in Help.
DocuWorks Trial Edition is to provide our customers the chance to enjoy as many

Notes on replacing DocuWorks 5.0 with its older version (including
trial edition):
In Windows NT® 4.0, even if you uninstall DocuWorks 5.0 first
and then install DocuWorks Ver. 3.x , the version of DocuWorks Printer may remain
as 5.0 and you will not be able to convert application documents into DocuWorks
documents. This problem occurs if you uninstall DocuWorks 5.0 while an application
is running with DocuWorks Printer selected, or the driver file of DocuWorks
Printer was not deleted during DocuWorks 5.0 uninstallation because you did
not have administrative privilege. To solve this problem, perform the following
procedure. (4744)
In Windows® 95, when the memory or hard disk space
is not sufficient, some message characters may be changed to strange symbols.
If this happens, reboot Windows® 95. (17)
When you drag-and-drop a file into the workspace to create a DocuWorks
document, the confirmation message to print the application data may be displayed
hiding behind the message "The following document is being converted". If this
happens, click [OK]. If you do not click [OK] , the conversion may not be able
to complete. If the confirmation message is not in front of the "The following
document is being converted" message, press the <Alt> and <Tab>
keys at the same time. When the confirmation message comes to the front, click
[OK]. (37)
When you create a document using DocuWorks Printer, the original data will not
be attached to the document. If you want the original data to be attached, drag-and-drop
the application data file to the workspace. (38)
Some applications can automatically scale non-standard size data to fit standard
size paper when printing. If you create a DocuWorks document from this type
of application, the paper size of the created document may not become non-standard.
(39)
If you cancel the conversion from an application using the drag-and-drop method,
the data under conversion may remain in the current folder of the workspace.
If this happens, just delete the data.
File names used in DocuWorks Desk are handled under the same rules as Windows®
95 files. (82)
If you convert a big document file (over 10000 pages), the conversion will be
stopped and only the part of the converted file will be created onto DocuWorks
Desk. (166)
If you cancel the conversion from a big document to a DocuWorks document, some
intermediate files (wmf, emf) may remain the temp directory. Delete them as
they are not necessary for DocuWorks operations. (166)
In Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, if you select DocuWorks Printer and print from an application without running
DocuWorks Desk, Desk will not start automatically. If you shut down Windows
NT® 4.0 without running Desk, and next time someone logs on to
Windows NT® 4.0 and starts DocuWorks Desk, s/he can find the
created document in the current folder in his/her Desk. (319)
If you install a TWAIN32-compliant scanner and open the [Select Source] dialog
box in DocuWorks Desk , the list of scanners displayed may include TWAIN16-compliant
scanners. If you select a TWAIN16-compliant scanner to start scanning, an error
message meaning "System will abort because of invalid operation." will appear
and the whole system may hang. In this case, restart Windows®
. DocuWorks supports only TWAIN32-compliant scanners and using scanners not
meeting this specification may cause DocuWorks to hang. Therefore, be sure to
use only a TWAIN32-compliant scanner. (515)
In Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, if you select a document in DocuWorks Desk and use the Image Converter to
convert it to monochrome bitmap, the texts and images in the non-white area
may become darken. This problem happens on a DocuWorks document created from
application data having color or gray scale image, and created by DocuWorks
Printer. (564)
When you use the Image Converter plug-in to create an image file at low resolution,
part of the image may be missing. To solve this problem, create the image file
at higher resolution. (570)
When using the Image Converter plug-in to create an image file, be sure to limit
the file name including path and file extension to 126 characters. (814)
Do not use the ampersand ("&") mark in items on the [Plug-ins Tools] menu or
in the tab names of the [Annotation Toolbar Options] window. If you include this
mark, the mark will not be shown in the menu item. Also, the menu's short-cut
key will not function correctly. (904)
When you use the Image Converter plug-in in monochrome mode to create a bitmap,
part of the bitmap image may result in reverse video or some patterns may even
disappear. If you use the plug-in in the color mode, the bitmap image may change
in color or some patterns may become white. (936)
If you need to reinstall the Able printer driver already assigned to the Easy
Printer icon, perform the following:
Select [Setting] from the [Plug-in Tools] menu. On the [Plug-in Setting] dialog
box, remove the Easy Printer from the [Current Plug-in Menu], then add the printer
again. (937)
When you convert a document to an image, be sure to allocate swap memory that
is three times the size of the image or more. (1443)
In Windows NT® 4.0, if Word 97 has [Allow fast saves] turned on,
after you edit and save the original data, sometimes you may not be able to
create a DocuWorks document from this data. In this case, select [Options] from
the [Tools] menu. Click the [Save] tab and turn off [Allow fast saves]. (1757)
When you create a document from a color bitmap, the image quality of JPEG may
drop. This tends to occur particularly in low resolution (about 100 dpi) color
bitmaps. To solve this problem, perform either of the following before conversion:
When you convert a document from an application which is already
open, the conversion may not function depending on the application, such as
PageMaker 6.5. (1944)
When you drag-and-drop a PageMaker 6.5 file to the workspace, PageMaker will
not automatically close after the document is created. (1965)
An application already started by an external command which is set for parallel
execution cannot be started by a New Document plug-in. (2085)
If the application aborts suddenly while you are editing the original data,
or if DocuWorks Desk is forced to close, the edited original data will remain
in the temp directory. (2141)
If LotusNotes is installed, you cannot use the cc:Mail plug-in program. In this
case, open "win.ini" file and correct the setting of LotusMail as follows. Then
restart DocuWorks Desk. (2200)
[LotusMail]
Application=wMail
Program=<installation path of ccmail>\wMail.exe SENDMAIL
In Windows® 95 , at DocuWorks Desk's Plug-in setting, if you set HP LaserJet
5si Mopier as the Easy Printer, some printer settings cannot be saved. (3368)
At DocuWorks Desk's Plug-in Setting, if OmniPage Pro Ver. 9.0 is set up as Start
Image Processing software, be sure to select [Converted Image] for [File to
Pass] in the [Setup Bitmap Operation] dialog box. If you select [Original Image],
images will be read in black/white reversal. (3401)
When deleting a DocuWorks file, DocuWorks will store that file temporarily so
that the operation can be undone. If you are deleting a file in a linked folder,
that file located in the server will be stored in the client's PC, so the deletion
may take time. This occurs whether [Use Recycle Bin] the [DocuWorks Desk Options]
dialog box is checked or unchecked. However, if you delete the file by pressing
<Shift> key and <Delete> key together, you cannot perform the [Undo]
operation, but the file will be deleted immediately. (4521)
If you try to access to a folder which is linked from DocuWorks Ver. 3.x and
stores a file created in DocuWorks Ver. 4 or later, the mouse cursor may not
change from the busy state (an icon of a sandglass). To solve the problem, access
to other folder or reboot Desk. This problem occurs when the Ver. 3.x installed
PC and the network PC are both Windows NT® 4.0, and the thumbnail
of the DocuWorks file is displayed in Ver. 3.x. If the shared directory is write-protected
against Ver. 3.x installed PC (setting can be made in Windows®),
this problem will not occur. (4814)
If the resolution of the screen display is smaller than 800 x 600 pixels, some
dialog boxes such as the [DocuWorks Desk Options] dialog box may not be able
to display all of its contents. (4947)
If you link to a folder which is located far down the hierarchy, information
about the current displayed page and position of the thumbnail may not be stored
in that folder. (4953)
You cannot import a shortcut file of a folder into DocuWorks Desk. If you try
to convert the shortcut file of a folder into a DocuWorks document with creating
a page, the [Executing] dialog box will not close. To discontinue the operation,
click [Cancel]. (5121)
If you cancel the operation while performing [Create pages] for a DocuWorks
document with the original data only (pageless document), the original data
may sometimes printed to the printer specified by [Default Printer]. (5336)
When a document created by a resource-intensive application (such as mapping
software which includes many fonts) is converted to a DocuWorks document under
Windows ® 95, Windows® 98, or Windows®
Me, it may result in a DocuWorks crash, or distortion of the images after the
conversion. (6235)
If you use Windows® 95, Windows® 98, or Windows® Me without
logging on to the Microsoft® Network, you cannot log on the link
destination specified as a link folder from Desk.
If you logged on to the Microsoft® Network, the [Enter Network
Password] dialog box appears when you try to open the link destination folder
from Desk. You can enter any text for [User Name], but for [Password], be sure
to enter the same password as that for the user name used to log onto the Microsoft®
Network. (6309)
If you specify a shared folder on Windows® 95, Windows®
98, or Windows® Me that is password-protected, as a link folder
of Desk, you must first log onto the shared folder to open it by using Windows
Explorer or the like. (6332)
When you create multiple DocuWorks documents with the same file name by printing
to DocuWorks Printer from an application file, the last numerical digits in
the names of the created DocuWorks document may not be as specified in the [DocuWorks
Desk Options] dialog box, if you were opening a read-only folder of Desk or
if the DocuWorks Printer was suspended at the time of creation. (6417)
When several users under Windows® XP are logged onto the network
at the same time, and a user requests the creation of a DocuWorks document by
printing to DocuWorks Printer and switches to another user without logging out,
a "Please start DocuWorks Desk" message may appear on the other users'
screens, or a DocuWorks document may be created in the other users' Desk. (6527)
A DocuWorks document created from an Illustrator file whose paper orientation
is landscape will be rotated by 90 degrees to portrait. If you want to reset
the orientation, select the document and then select [Rotate] from the [Edit]
menu of DocuWorks Desk. (7515)
If you use Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.5, when you print out
Help topics by selecting [Print the selected headline and all its subtopics],
the right edge of the page may not be printed. If this happens, use a version
of Internet Explorer other than 5.5. (7560)
If you open the "*.xbd" or "*.xdw" folder and delete it
from the folder area, a message "The following files have been deleted
from the folder since the work space was displayed the last time." appears,
but you can ignore it. (7668)
When you execute [Create pages] on a DocuWorks document to which many pages
of original data are attached (more than several hundred pages), the performance
may be distinctly slower than when you create a document by printing to DocuWorks
Printer. (8173)
Original data created by 16-bit applications (applications for Windows®
3.1) cannot be edited or saved in DocuWorks Desk. (8308)
When there is not sufficient memory, image of the DocuWorks document
page may not appear and you will see an "X" in the page. To solve this problem,
reduce the zoom ratio, or close other running applications and then restart
the DocuWorks Viewer. (21)
If you select [Copy Image] on the DocuWorks Viewer when the screen display is
set to 16 colors, the image color may not be reproduced correctly depending
on the display driver. (88)
The resolution (dpi) displayed in the [Bitmap Properties] dialog box may not
be exact; there is a variance of several dots per inch. Also, if the height
or width of the bitmap is less than 5 mm, then the bitmap cannot be pasted to
the DocuWorks document. (211)
In Windows NT® 4.0, when you display a document in DocuWorks
Viewer and crop image in monochrome mode, the non-white area may become darken.
This problem happens with a DocuWorks document created from data having color
or gray scale, and created by the DocuWorks Printer. (564)
If a DocuWorks document is created from application data containing bitmaps
and color patterns, it may take a while to display the document in DocuWorks
Viewer. (670)
If you crop an image in color on a high color (16-bit) display, the cropped
image may change in color or part of its pattern may become white. (936)
If a text annotation exceeds a certain size, its text may be displayed as slash
lines. Adding a carriage return in the text or reducing the font size will return
the display to normal. (1529)
In Windows® 95, Window 98, or Windows® Me, when
you copy or crop image in DocuWorks Viewer, the created image may be partially
deleted. This problem also happens in DocuWorks Desk when you convert a DocuWorks
document to an image. To solve this problem, reduce either the resolution of
the image or the number of colors used in the display. (1690)
When you look at the [Original Data Properties] dialog box, the application
name of the original data may not appear correctly. This may be caused by Windows®
OS. (1742)
When you copy and paste text containing a special character (such as trademark,
accented character, and copyright mark) between DocuWorks and other applications
via the clipboard, characters may be changed to strange symbols. (1911)
In Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, FreeHand or Marker line with the width over 9 points may appear jagged when
viewed or printed. (2129)
Under Windows® 95, Windows® 98, or Windows®
Me, when you open a DocuWorks document located on a Netware server, if the path
name is longer than a certain length, a page conflict may occur at mprexe.exe
to cause instability to the OS. This problem occurs mainly in the following
case: you create a DocuWorks document under Windows NT® 4.0 using
Microsoft Netware Client, and paste into it an annotation linked to a DocuWorks
document located on the Netware server; then, you use Windows®
95 / Windows® 98 / Windows® Me to open the document
and click the annotation to open the link source (DocuWorks document). (This
problem does not occur when Novell Netware Client 32 is used to replace Microsoft
Netware Client.) This instability of the OS operation has nothing to do with
DocuWorks. This problem also occurs if you create under Windows NT®
4.0 a shortcut icon to any file located on a Netware server and then use Windows®
95/ Windows® 98 / Windows® Me to start it. (2969)
Operations performed in the [OCR Result] tab of the infoview window may not
be able to undo correctly. For example, operation such as selecting multiple
lines and then entering text cannot be undone. (4302)
If the screen display is set to 256 colors and you have activated DocuWorks
Viewer after activating another application, the color of the toolbar may not
be displayed correctly. To solve this problem, perform an operation which will
update the toolbar display. For example, click the tool button, click the desktop
and then reactivate DocuWorks Viewer, or if the OLE server is displayed, reactivate
the DocuWorks object. (4996)
If you try to open multiple original data which were created with a same application,
you may not be able to open them at once. Even if you can open and edit those
multiple original data, you may not be able to save the results and create new
DocuWorks documents. (5006)
If you copy a bitmap to the clipboard when the color palette of the screen is
set to High Color display (16-bit) or True Color display (32-bit), you cannot
paste that bitmap as a bitmap annotation by selecting [Paste] from the [Edit]
menu and then selecting [Other annotation] in the [Paste] dialog box. (5015)
Depending on the application, the printing may be processed in different order
from the displayed text order. Because the text information within the DocuWorks
document converted from those applications is held in a different order from
the displayed text order, the search result may not be in the displayed order.
(5572)
When de-skewing the image page of a DocuWorks document with a large file size,
it may take a very long time. If this happens, to perform de-skewing at normal
speed, ensure that the free disk space in real memory is twice as large as the
size when converted to bitmap from the image page to be de-skewed.
For example, you need more than 60 MB free disk space in real memory to de-skew
a two-color (monochrome) A0-400 dpi image page. (6284)
When you capture images (copy or crop images) in DocuWorks Viewer under Windows®
95, Windows® 98, or Windows® Me, the pasted portion
may be whited out if you specified high resolution (e.g. 600 dpi) in the [Capture
Image] dialog box for a low resolution document (e.g. 72 dpi). If this happens,
reduce the resolution to around 400 dpi. (6307)
Depending on the display card used, the right edge of the body text may not
be displayed in specific zoom ratio. If this happens, change the performance
settings of the display card. (6992)
If the document contains the polygon annotation under the following conditions,
the performance of screen manipulation will be lowered due to restrictions of
the operating system under Windows NT® 4.0, Windows®
2000, or Windows® XP. (7913)
(1) The sides cross like a wave.
(2) [Custom] is set for [Fill].
(3) The fill area is large.
If you close DocuWorks Viewer while toolbars and/or infoview are in floating
mode, the toolbars or infoview of Viewer will appear when you perform printing
in the following ways :
- When printing via a pop-up menu by right-clicking the DocuWorks document on
the Windows® desktop or the like
- When printing a DocuWorks document by dragging and dropping its icon onto
the Windows® printer's icon.
- When printing by using the /p option of Viewer command. (8166)
In some applications, it may be difficult to see the color difference
in printout than that in the data viewed on the screen. If you convert this
type of data to a DocuWorks document, the color in the document may appear different
than the original data. (46)
When you convert some application data to a DocuWorks document, patterns in
the data may appear to be "filled" when viewed on the screen. However, this
problem will not happen when you print the document. (51)
Patterns in DocuWorks documents created from some applications may not be displayed
correctly. However, this problem will not happen when you print the document.
(65)
While the application of the original file is still running, you may not be
able to drag & drop a file to the Desk workspace to create a DocuWorks document.
To solve this problem, close the application before the drag-and-drop operation
or create a document using the print command of the application via the DocuWorks
Printer driver. (106)
If an application file contains hatch patterns, when you convert it to DocuWorks
document, it may appear different from the original data when viewed in its
application. However, this problem will not happen when you print the DocuWorks
document. (174)
If the screen display is set to less than 256 colors, then color in a DocuWorks
document will appear dithered pattern. However, this problem will not happen
when you print the document. (174)
When you create a DocuWorks document from the Acrobat data, characters of some
alphabetical and symbolic fonts may be changed to strange symbols. (1270)
For applications that do not support drag-and-drop of a file to the printer
icon for printing, when you drag and drop the file to DocuWorks Desk, it cannot
be converted to a DocuWorks document either. (3006)
When you convert PDF documents to DocuWorks documents, the frame lines of the
pages may partially disappear in the display window and also may not be printed.
(3436)
In Windows® 95, Windows® 98, or Windows®
Me, a bitmap whose file size exceeds 16 MB or the width or height exceeds 32767
pixels cannot be created. Windows NT® 4.0 also has a upper limit
to the size of a bitmap you can create. For these reasons, DocuWorks may fail
to create image in some cases. If this occurs, changing the color palette of
the screen to 32768 colors or more may solve the problem. (4512)
If you convert PDF files to DocuWorks documents under the environment using
Acrobat Reader 4.0 or Acrobat 4.0, all the fonts of single-byte characters will
be changed to Arial. (4736)
If a DocuWorks document includes lines other than solid line (such as dotted
lines and broken lines) created in Windows NT® 4.0, Windows®
2000, or Windows® XP, when you display or print the document
in Windows® 95, Windows® 98, or Windows®
Me, the lines may turn to solid lines or the space between the dots or broken
lines may change. (4863)
If you convert CorelDraw document into DocuWorks document, the characters and
the background image may overlap and the overlapping area of the characters
may not be displayed or printed. To solve this problem, try the following operations:
Depending on the application, the printing may be processed in the different
order from the displayed text order. Because the text information within the
DocuWorks document converted from those applications is held in a different
order from the displayed text order, the search result may not be in the displayed
order. (5572)
When you convert an Adobe Illustrator file including images to a DocuWorks document
under Windows® 98 or Me, white lines may be inserted in the images.
This phenomenon can be avoided by converting the file under Windows NT®
4.0. (5589)
Under Windows® 95, Windows® 98,
or Windows® Me, outline characters in Microsoft®
Word will be corrupted when converted to a DocuWorks document. They are converted
normally under Windows NT® 4.0. (5954)
If you create a DocuWorks document from A&A VectorWorks under Windows NT®
4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, and display or print it under Windows® 95, Windows®
98, or Windows® Me, portions of the images or
text may not be displayed, depending on the zoom ratio or the resolution. (6225)
Under Windows NT® 4.0, Windows®
2000, or Windows® XP, if you convert a document
created by Microsoft® Visio 2002, characters may be corrupted
or dropped. (6523)
When you convert a document created by Microsoft® Word 2000 or
the like under Windows® XP, characters may be dropped if fonts
specified by Word have not been installed. (6536)
Depending on the settings of applications or fonts, characters may be printed
as images. If this happens, the converted DocuWorks documents hold no text information
and so cannot be searched using text search. (6537)
In Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, when you convert document such as Microsoft Word 2002 document into DocuWorks
document, even if you change the settings in [DocuWorks Printer Properties] dialog
box (such as [Margin], [Color Image Compression], [Create in Monochrome Mode]
or [Create in DocuWorks Desk]), the settings will be ineffective. (6569)
When you display or print a DocuWorks document created by Power Point or the
like under Windows® 95, Windows®
98, or Windows® Me, textures and shading may
be displayed or printed in different pattern from that in the original document.
(7538)
Under Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, when you display a DocuWorks document created from a Quark Xpress file in
which images are rotated and pasted, white lines may be inserted in the images.
(7618)
Under Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or ® XP, when you display and/or
print a DocuWorks document created from a Quark Xpress file in which images
are rotated and pasted, small black dots may be displayed and/or printed in
parts of the images. (7622)
Under Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows®
XP, when you display a DocuWorks document created from a PageMaker file in which
images are rotated and pasted, white lines may be inserted in the images. (7809)
In some cases, DocuWorks documents created by printing to a DocuWorks Printer
with low resolution may be larger than those with high resolution. When using
a DocuWorks Printer under Windows® 95, Windows®
98, or Windows® Me, conversion with lower resolution
may be impossible to perform even though conversion with higher resolution can
be performed, depending on the restrictions of the intermediate data size. (7967)
When you convert CorelDraw or WordPerfect data into DocuWorks document, patterns
in the data may change from the original such as the patterns disappearing or
turning black. Those applications use their exclusive technology to apply with
the difference of the resolution between display and printout. However, this
problem will not happen when you printout the document from DocuWorks. (8506)
When you convert a document created by PageMaker into DocuWorks document, underscores
and strikethrough lines may disappear or their positions may shift. (8534)
For a DocuWorks document created from application data, be sure to set the print resolution of the document to that used in conversion. Otherwise, the print result of the DocuWorks document may differ from that of the application data. (623)
When you print a DocuWorks document containing ("&") mark in its file name, the "&" mark will not be shown as a file name in the dialog box which appears during printing. Also, an underline will be shown to the next of the "&" mark. (904)
When a DocuWorks document created from Freelance is printed to HP LaserJet 4V, the underscore and strikethrough lines may not be printed and may become white. (1904)
When you print a DocuWorks document created from application data with long width to a PostScript printer, the portion filled with patterns (such as vertical, horizontal, or slanted line hatch patterns) may appear rotated by 90 degrees. (1908)
When you print a DocuWorks documents created from complex data (pattern fill, gradation, heavy use of bitmap, etc.) to a PostScript printer, the PostScript data may become bigger in size. This may result in longer printing time than the original data or the data may exceed the capacity of the printer. (2030)
When a DocuWorks document created from Lotus 1-2-3 is printed using HP LaserJet 4V, part of the background pattern of graphs may be missing. (2039)
When a DocuWorks document containing 1-point FreeHand annotations is printed to the HP LaserJet 4V, some of the annotations may be printed as dotted lines. (2078)
When you print selecting [Force to Print Slash Pattern] for [Transparent Color]
in the [Print] dialog box, while transparent color will be replaced with slash
pattern, the slash lines may interfere with the pattern in color and result
in dirty spots. (2149)
Depending on the printer driver in use, DocuWorks documents created from large
bitmaps may not be printed correctly. For example, a Postscript printer cannot
correctly print DocuWorks documents created from A2-300 dpi equivalent (4960
x 7015 dots) or A3-600dpi equivalent (7015 x 9921 dots) monochrome bitmaps.
In this case, be sure to decrease the printer driver's resolution. (2182)
After you open a DocuWorks document attached to a mail sheet of GroupWise, while printing the document, if you close the mail sheet, DocuWorks Viewer may crash. Therefore, to avoid this problem, do not close the mail sheet until printing is finished. (2228)
When you print a DocuWorks document containing graphics filled with shades or patterns to a PostScript printer, the print result may differ from the case where the data is printed directly from its application software. (1861, 2247)
In Windows® 95 or Windows® 98, when you print a DocuWorks document to HP LaserJet 5si Mopier, big ellipse annotations may not be printed. (3356)
In Windows NT® 4.0, when you create DocuWorks documents from Excel 97 with cell patterns applied and print it using HP LaserJet 5si Mopier, the cell patterns and the texts (except black-colored texts) may be printed in white. (3413)
In Windows NT® 4.0, when you print DocuWorks documents created from Internet Explorer 4.0 using HP Laser Jet 5si Mopier, the GIF files which contained transparent color in the original Web page may be printed only in black and white. (3419)
In Windows® 95 and Windows® 98, when you print DocuWorks documents created from application using HP LaserJet 4000N, part of the bitmap images may not be printed. (3425)
In Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000, or Windows® XP, when you print DocuWorks documents created from PageMaker 6.5 using a PostScript printer, the ruled lines of the tables may not be printed. If this happens, increase the printer resolution and print it again. (3434)
If you convert CorelDraw document into DocuWorks document and print out that file using PCL5e printer driver, the displayed image and the print result may not be the same. If this occurs, change the printer properties by switching the default setting of Graphics Mode from Raster to Vector. (5558)
If you convert Microsoft document into DocuWorks document, and print it out from DocuPrint C621, patterns and OLE icons may be printed in black. (6562)
When you print a DocuWorks document that contains a portion filled by shading
or patterns, transparent parts, or effects using a PostScript printer or a PCL printer, the printed
result may vary from that printed directly from the original application data.
(1861, 6584, 6587, 8530)
When printing a page with a signature to a PostScript printer, the following
will result.
- The transparent part of the signature will be printed white, so the portion
hidden by the signature will not be printed.
- When [Display signature status] is checkmarked, the transparent part of the
mark displaying the verification status of the signature will be printed white,
so the portion hidden by the mark will not be printed. (7451)
When you print a DocuWorks document created from a Lotus SuperOffice file under
Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000,
or Windows® XP, white lines may be inserted in
the gradation. (7601)
When you print A4-sized DocuWorks document which has an annotation attached
within 3 mm above the bottom edge by resizing it to 2B0-sized paper, the annotations
may not be printed correctly. (8388)
Note the following precautions regarding the OCR process.
For a DocuWorks document that contains more than approximately 30 million pixels (equivalent to 400 dpi A3), the pixels are skipped and then OCR is performed. Therefore, OCR processing with more than 30 million pixels may not improve the recognition rate. (6134)
You can process and recognize up to 20000 characters with the Viewer and OCR
plug-in. If you execute OCR on a document containing more than 20000 characters,
an error message appears, and the processing will be aborted. (6331)
Margins of 1.52 mm on each side of the paper cannot be OCR processed. Therefore,
characters written at the top edge of the paper, for example, may not be OCR
processed. (6351)
When you send a Lotus Notes mail with DocuWorks file attached from DocuWorks Desk or Viewer, you need to set up the Notes MAPI service provider and use it for the mail. (5227)
When creating a linked OLE annotation from Microsoft Word, be
sure to save the Word document, which is the link source. If the link source
is not saved, the linked OLE annotation will not function correctly. (2422)
Depending on the application, when its data is pasted into DocuWorks Viewer
as an OLE annotation, the colors of the displayed data may not be the same as
the original. (2463)
Depending on the application, the OLE annotation may extend beyond its page
area when displayed or printed. (2660)
When a DocuWorks document which OLE annotation is pasted is converted to an
image, some characters of the converted document may become distorted. (2764)
If [Color Palette of Display Setting] is set to 256 Colors, when a DocuWorks
document is embedded as an OLE object into another application, because the
color palette is different, the colors may not match. (3109)
If you want to drag and drop a DocuWorks document from DocuWorks Desk into Lotus
Notes, be sure to hold down the Ctrl key first before performing the drag-and-drop
operation. (3115)
If you have updated Office 95 to Office 97, you cannot run the server application
of a linked OLE annotation (by operations such as double-clicking the annotation)
which was pasted in Office95. To solve this problem, select [Link Settings]
from [OLE] in the [Document] menu and then click [Change Source] to re-connect
the file. (4501)
Under Windows® 95, Windows® 98,
or Windows® Me, when you paste an OLE annotation
containing text to a DocuWorks document, the text portions may be overlapped
if you view the document as a thumbnail in DocuWorks Desk, or if you display
or print it using Viewer Light or Viewer Light for Web. (6521)
