PenMount Linux X Window drivers & utilities Please check your X Window XFree86 version first and copy the corresponded PenMount driver to the floppy disk, then follow up the installation procedures as below to install Linux driver and calibration utilities. For Example: If your X Window System XFree86 version is 3.3.6.x, you could easily find out there is a directory named "XWindow_336", copy file "PenMount.tar" in this directory to a diskette. A. Driver installation procedures: 1. Login system with "root" 2. Input "cd /" 3. Copy the "penmount.tar" to root. 4. Input "tar xvf penmount.tar" 5. Edit "vi /etc/X11/XF86Config" a. In the Section "Files", add a statement : ModulePath "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules" b. Add a Section "Module" : Section "Module" Load "xf86PenMount.so" EndSection c. Under the Section "Pointer", add another Section "XInput" : ¡]Here we suppose that Mouse is connecting to COM1, Touch screen controller is connecting to COM2) Section "XInput" SubSection "PenMount" Port "/dev/ttyS1" DeviceName "PenMount" MinX 10 MaxX 1000 MinY 10 MaxY 1000 EndSubSection SubSection "Mouse" Port "/dev/ttyS0" DeviceName "Mouse" Protocol "Auto" AlwaysCore EndSubSection EndSection 6. Edit "vi ~/.Xclients" Find "# added your favorite programs here... ^_^" first, and add a statement list below under this column: xsetpointer penmount Note: If the ".Xclients" file is not existing, you must generate it and add two statements as below: xsetpointer penmount exec /usr/X11/xinit/Xclients By the way, do not forget to give an executable permission to this file by the way: chmod +x .Xclients B. Calibration Utilities Installation procedures: 1. Copy the "libqt.tgz" file to the "/usr/lib" directory. 2. In the "/usr/lib" directory, input "tar zxvf libqt.tgz". 3. In the "/usr/lib" directory, input "ldconfig". 4. Copy the "PenCal.tgz" to root. 5. In the root, input "tar zxvf PenCal.tgz". Run X window and do calibration when the first time installation. Input "startx" to start X window. In the X window system, open a terminal window and input "usr/local/pencal/PenCal" the display will appear a PenCal window, follow up the red points to do calibration, total 4 points on display.
