A. Driver installation procedures: 1. Login system with "root" 2. # cd /root 3. Copy penmount driver "penmount_drv.o" into the directory named "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input". #mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom #cp /mnt/cdrom/Driver/Linux\ XFree86\ 4.x.x\ V2.0/Driver/penmount_drv.o /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input 4. Edit XF86Config file to load driver. You can refer to /mnt/cdrom/Driver/Linux\ XFree86\ 4.x.x\ V2.0/XF86Config.sample NOTE: Make sure your XFree86 server is using XF86Config or XF86Config-4 first. # X -version *( If the screen shows "XFree86 Version 4.x.x / X Window System", then go to Next. If not, you are using XFree86 Version 3.x.x driver.) #cd /etc/X11 #ls -al *(If your XFree86 running the XFree86 4.x.x, and do not find "XF86Config-4" files, please ignore the following step and go to 4.a directly for continued installation.) #rm X #ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 X #mv XF86Config XF86Config.old #mv XF86Config-4 XF86Config #ln -s XF86Config XF86Config-4 a. # gedit /etc/X11/XF86Config (in Xwindow only, or you can use "vi" text mode editor) (use copy and paste to modify the following lines) b. Do calibration for the first installation. 7. The Penmount can work well. B. Calibration Utilities Installation procedures: 1. Copy the calibrate file into the "/usr/local/pencal" directory. # mkdir /usr/local/pencal # cp /mnt/cdrom/Driver/Linux\ XFree86\ 4.x.x\ V2.0/Calibration/*.* /usr/local/pencal 2. Input "startx" to start X window. # startx 3. In the X window system, open a terminal window and type # cd /usr/local/pencal # ./pencal-2.00 The display will appear a PenCal window, follow up the red points to do calibration, total 4 points on display. When PenCal window shows "Finished! Please restart X window", wait a moment until the PenCal window eliminated, and restart the X window system. 4.
